Dear Trillium Families:
It was so great to get to meet those of you who were able to make it to our open house. Mrs. Shannon and I are very excited about your students and getting to know your families. Sorry to those that we missed, we understand not everyone could make it.
I wanted to take this time to let you know a little bit about the first day of school. It is a fun and scary time for all of us. The best way we can help our little ones adjust is by giving them time to think about it and answering any questions that they might have. Taking time to talk through the emotions that your student will be feeling on the first day will help them adjust.
The first day will be full of excitement, we will start out the morning with a small scavenger hunt to help find important areas of the school, and come back to the classroom to take a picture and spend a little bit of time reading with your student, once all of our friends have completed the hunt, and had their picture taken we will sing a song together and then it will be time for the most dreaded part for parents and kids, the good bye. It is very important that we are all prepared for this part of the day, allowing for a smooth transition to help set your student up for a successful fun year of kindergarten. Once we have said our goodbyes, Mrs. Shannon and I will read a story about kindergarten and continue getting to know our new class, and your wonderful students.
I would also like to talk a little bit about volunteering in the Trillium classroom. We would love to have parents come spend time in the classroom, working with a small group of students, or helping prepare for a project. This being said we will go the first month without parents being in the classroom. We do this to develop a strong connection with each child, and give them time to adjust to school and our daily routine allowing them to understand who their teachers are.
If you have any questions please feel free to email me. [email protected]
We are looking forward to seeing you at parent night September 3rd, and on the first day of school September 8th.
Love,
Mrs. Ari-Anna and Mrs. Shannon
