Good afternoon Trillium,
Wow, the first week of school is already behind us. We had a great time and started some really great friendships that will continue to strengthen throughout the year. The first week just flew by for me and I loved sharing it with your wonderful kiddos. The first few weeks of school are going to be pretty long for the students. Allowing them more down time, or going to bed earlier will help with the transitions to their new school schedule. We spent most of the week getting to know one another and how to be a member of our community. Part of being a member of the community is we came up with a classroom set of rules. All of the students were able to identify what they thought was important and as there was a very common theme I combined them into three basic rules.
1) We will all have safe hands and feet
2) We will all help clean our classroom
3) We will all be nice to everyone in the room.
During the week we were also able to meet our music and P.E. teachers. We will get to spend lots of time with these teachers as we see them every day but Wednesday! On Friday we had the chance to meet the school counselor, she will be with us every Friday for our Character Education class.
Even though the kiddos are making great friends and playing great together they are still working on learning names of all of their classmates. We are going to continue working on this, and continue building a strong classroom family. We also had our first assembly! We learned about the play space, and we are hopeful the pirate ship will be open sometime next week. I will let you and your kiddos know when that happens.
Next week we will be talking about family and start working on our family theme unit. Also I have book order forms in the classroom if you would like one they will be out at drop off and pick up, but we need them back by the 18th so that we can get the order sent it.
Questions to ask your student during the weekend:
September 15th All School BBQ
September 18th Book orders due
